Template for Reporting Research Findings 

You have conducted your research and it is time to report your research findings to your stakeholders. Here is a guideline to help you craft a clear and concise report.

​

1. Introduction/Research overview

  • Briefly introduce the scope of the research and identify the research objective and/or problem statement describing the specific problem or issue the research is addressing. 

 

2. Methodology

  • Research method used to collect data.

  • Sample size: no. of participants, demographics. 

  • Research challenges (if applicable)
     

3. Key findings

  • Highlight and summarise the most significant findings /insights.

 

4. Research findings

  • Provide deeper insights into users’ behaviour, expectation, needs and pain points. 

  • Highlight occurring themes or patterns observed during the research.

  • Highlight users pain-points or challenges faced.

  • Include quotes and anecdotes (video clips) that illustrate users’ perceptive.


5. Recommendations

  • Identify key opportunities for improvement based on the research finding. 

  • Offer actionable recommendations to address the identified opportunities.

  • Explain how addressing the user need can lead to improve user experience and business outcomes.

  • Recommendations should be clear, specific and tied to insights. 

  • If relevant, suggest potential solutions or design ideas to implement the recommendations.


6. Next step 

  • Outline the proposed next steps based on the research findings. 

  • Mention any additional research or testing to validate and refine findings. 

 

7. Appendix 

  • Additional information such as  screener questions, test tasks etc. 

  • Add links to other supporting deliverables such as prototype, analysis sheet etc


Note:- A good report presentation is very important. To ensure your slide compels readers to go through your content, keep it clear and concise, using relevant images to reinforce the key points of your content.
